Carly Fiorina confirms Senate bid
Well, it's now official. Former HP chief Carly Fiorina has filed the paperwork to run for one of two US Senate seats in California.
Fiorina will first run for the Republican Party nomination, then if she wins the party nod she will take on incumbent senator Barbara Boxer, who will be seeking her fourth term in office. The early speculation is that Fiorina is a heavy favourite to win the nomination, but unseating Boxer would be a tougher task.
As one of the first women to win a prominent role in Silicon Valley, Fiorina could again become a trailblazer by becoming the first former tech executive to win a Senate seat in California.
We're guessing Fiorina doesn't want voters to base their decisions to heavily on her past business performance, however. Her time at HP was tumultuous, to say the least.

Highlighted by the messy Compaq acquisition, Fiorina also planted the seeds for a boardroom leak investigation that would later turn into the disastrous "pretexting" scandal that cost Patricia Dunn so dearly. After leaving the business world, she climbed on board Arizona senator John McCain's 2008 Presidential campaign, and we all know how that turned out.

Well, isn't that nice! After nearly destroying HP, she now plans to move on to destroying the country. There is nothing so unlovely as a disproportionate ego...

She's nowhere near official. She's only formed an exploratory committee because she's required to track her expenditures that have soared beyond $5000 per FEC rules due to hiring and firing 3 consultants plus a survey that cost over $20K. The rumor is also that she's not going to self fund - in fact she refuses to put up any of her own money which makes moot the whole point of her running. What a disaster but not as big as the misinformed and politically incredulous information circulated by bloggers. The real candidates who have filed and are running are found at www.FEC.gov

Although I will be unable to vote for Mrs. Fiorina since I am not a resident of CA.,she would be a bright representative for your state. Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi are poor representatives of the people. Both of them are uninsipring, with attitudes unworthy of using taxpayer money for salaries. I have never sat about a table with this potential candidate, but have been very impressed with her knowledge and common sense and the collected approach displayed when speaking with the media in 2008 on behalf of John Mc Cain.
How fortunate Californians would be to replace Boxer with someone smart. Will hope for this positive outcome for all.

Congrats, Carly, on confirming your bid for one of the two Senate seats in CA!! The state is fortunate to have your intelligence and expertise that I have had the privilege of observing in past business associations.

This is one of the best choices we have. Although facing the tough times of PC business consolidation with the acquisition of Compaq, she has the stamina and acumen to fight extreme liberal Barbara Boxer, who needs to be replaced. [Note: her bout with cancer is an asset.] About time we had some business people running the country's business.

Fiorina,
I am so happy to hear that you are in the running to unseat B. Boxer. Your life experience and background in running a highly successful multi billion company is what the Californians and the country need right now. Thanks for having a big heart to help save our country, despite of what you have been through lately.
God bless you!
