Intel picks a power fight (Intel Developer Forum)

Intel CTO Justin Rattner has kicked off Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco by beating the power drum.

Intel last year unveiled its new micro architecture that focused on cutting power consumption. At the 2006 spring edition of the developer event, he added called upon hardware manufacturers to cut power consumption for the platform. Because as Intel cuts power consumption for the processor, the platform (including graphics card and memory) will be the area where the easiest gains are made.

As a first step, Intel unveiled the Silverton prototype.
